Also known as: Lending Stream; Drafty
Gain Credit LLC operates the Lending Stream brand in the UK. Lending Stream is a short-term instalment loan provider that offers loans repayable over six months. It is part of a larger US financial services group and has operated in the UK consumer credit market for a number of years.
Lending Stream provides what are often called high-cost short-term credit (HCSTC) loans. These are short-term loans that carry high interest rates. The FCA introduced a price cap on HCSTC in 2015 that limits the total cost of these loans, including interest and fees, to no more than 100% of the original borrowed amount. This means you will never pay back more than double what you borrowed.
While this cap provides some protection, HCSTC loans remain expensive compared to mainstream borrowing. They are intended for short-term financial shortfalls and are not suitable as a long-term financial solution.
Lending Stream is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. If you have a Lending Stream loan, you can contact them at lendingstream.co.uk.
If you are struggling with a Lending Stream loan, contact them directly to discuss your options. Free debt advice is available from StepChange on 0800 138 1111, National Debtline on 0808 808 4000, or Citizens Advice. These services can help you manage short-term lending debt at no cost.
