Also known as: Capquest; Capquest Debt Recovery
Capquest Debt Recovery Limited is a UK debt purchaser and debt collection company. It buys portfolios of unpaid consumer debt and then works to recover what is owed. Capquest is part of the Arrow Global group.
When Capquest buys a debt, it becomes the legal owner. If you receive letters or calls from Capquest, it means a debt you originally had with another company has been purchased by Capquest. The original lender no longer owns the debt and you now need to deal with Capquest.
Capquest must follow FCA regulations and treat customers fairly. They must provide clear written information about any debt they are chasing, including which original lender it came from and the original account reference. You have the right to ask for this information and for a copy of the original credit agreement.
If you believe the debt is incorrect or that you do not owe it, you can dispute it. Capquest must then investigate. If the debt is very old, it may be statute barred under the Limitation Act 1980 and no longer enforceable in court. Citizens Advice can help you check this.
If you owe a genuine debt to Capquest and are struggling to pay, it may be possible to negotiate a payment arrangement based on what you can realistically afford. Free debt advisers at StepChange and National Debtline can help you assess your situation and communicate with Capquest.
Free debt advice is available from StepChange on 0800 138 1111, National Debtline on 0808 808 4000, or Citizens Advice. All these services are completely free.
